  1. Ive tried everything to get capturing of video stream from www.mtv.com videos to work.

Ive tried snagit, and river past.
I have disabled overlay in windows media.

Everytime i try it will always give me a blank screen over the video.

Is it possible to rip from mtv.com?

Could be the steam getting in the way. J/k,try disabling your video card hardware acceleration before capturing.

  3. Well those programs can capture regular .wmv files, and even streaming ones. But for some reason, these MTV ones are super protected. I think it uses RTSP method of stream.. can that be captured?
