Hi,
I know, that VEGAS has scenes detection during capturing, but what about movies which I already have saved on HD in AVI format ?
For example Pinnacle Studio can detect scenes from any source (during capturing or from any avi file on hard drive).
Thanx for any advice how to do it with Vegas
Peter

scroll through and put a marker on each scene .. no auto way of doing it , unless you dump it to tape and re-capture it ..

Are you really sure ? Itīs little bit user(editor) unfriendly...tell me why lowend programs such as Pinnacel Studio this function have and pro-programs like Vegas this donīt have ... ???
Donīt you know about any simplier way how to automatically detect scenes for Vegas without re-recording to tape and re-cupturing back ?
Thanx

Ehmm...should I understand to it, that these PROīs are better spending and wasting time by finding starts/ends of each clip ?
))))))
I can use this time for better things than this .......
I think, Sony (SFoundry) should admit, that this function in their SW miss, because itīs very basic function for powerfull movie edit, especially when you work with a lot of video material .....

totally useless function for me also --- maybe good for home video's ..
i always would use the trimmer .... and/or have timecode on my tapes with a 2 pop and countdown in addition (i don't use dv) .
i hope sony doesn't bother wasting resources on such a thing either .. though i could see some use for it for home stuff i guess , if not familiar with how a higher end NLE trimmer functions ..
for live stuff brought in - vegas will do the scene detection when captured ."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
I dontīt want to polemize if itīs for you useful or not .... I would like to find any solution how to detect scenes and import them into Vegas without re-capturing...
And also ... but of course that I use trimmer too (even for automatic detected scenes) but the main reason why I use automatic scenes detection is for fast finding right scenes etc ...its very useful to see thumbnails of each scene on screen, which helps me to create basic edit in my head.... -
i'm not saying it can not be done, but I tried a couple ways to do what you are looking for and I couldn't do it ..
maybe scenalyzer could do this for you ? (no idea - never used it) .
you could ask also on the vegas forum at sony or on the DMM forum for vegas ..
