    will there be noticable difference between these to ?

    will there be a noticable difference between a IDE 7200 and a SATA 7200 RPM drive ?

    Everything I've heard says the Raptors are superfast. Partially because of the smaller platter size and partially because they run at 10K RPMs as opposed to 7200. I believe the also support native command queuing (don't quote me). The only other drive out there that MIGHT compete is the new Maxtor Maxline III 7200RPM SATA with 16MB cache, but I think even that will be slower. If there's not a huge price difference, I'd opt for the 74GB raptor.
    Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

    Not the 36GB model and certainly not for that price. NewEgg has the 74GB Raptor for $175 USD. Even if the prices you quoted are CAD the smaller Raptors are loud and it would just be better to have more room on your boot drive.
