looking for a software that can do all or any of the the following:

    - slice videos up into chapters

    - drag-and-drop buttons, (dont like templates) *

    - make text as buttons, rather than a square thumbnail of video*

    - import custom made buttons

    - doesnt take up 1 gb to author 200mb video *

    - allows several menus/submenu , 2 possibly 3, for alot of short videos

  3. You are thinking of authoring. There are plenty of authouring guides and software packages to be found on the left-hand side.

Forum Troll has made some good suggestions - I personally use TMPGEnc DVD Author.

yes but as far as menus and buttons go, TDA is so limited.

  5. Choose another one then. What else have you tried so far?

It's hard to recommend software if we don't know what you have already tried.

  6. I quite like dvdlab, there are good guides on this site and it gives you a lot of freedom to be creative with your buttons/menus etc

It is a bit limited but there are ways to make things happen with it.

As mentioned above, it helps to state the whole side of the story in the first post
    If in doubt, Google it.

ones i have used are : Nero, sonic Mydvd, Ulead movie factory, and TDA.

Mydvd and Movie factory both take up one GB to author a 200mb video. Which sucks because i want to put a bunch of vcd on dvd.

Might take a look at adobe Encore, maybe elements like buttons can be made in photoshop. WHich would help because i know photoshop like the back of my hand.
