  1. Any recommendations as to the best all round player right now at a reasonable price?

I bought a cheap Apex at Christmas but it really struggles with DVD + - RW discs and I want to create DVDs with the rewriteable media before I burn the final copies of my MemoriesOnTv slideshows to DVD-R before sending them out to my relatives.

So as well as DVD +- RW support I'd like it to play raw MPG and Divx files if possible. S-Video connection would be nice.

    Any personal recomendations?

  3. Hey I'm sold. After your reecommendation I hit the web and that is one sweet player.

    Thanks for the recommendation.

  4. No problem. Just remember that when you encode xvid (if you do) to *NOT* use Qpel as an option (I don't even know what it is), because the machine will choke on it.

If for some reason one of your avi files goes out of synch or looks pixelated, you can try pressing the system key twice.

I wanted to do the same thing. Walked into Target with a RCA patch cord and 4-5 home grown DVD's.... Tried two or three and the Samsung I finally plugged into a small TV they had on display played my +'s , -'s and -RW's (my MOTV discs)... Sold !! $50 I think

  7. Well I maaged to find the last one in my local Target, everywhere else was sold out, including all the online sites I tried. Got them to hold it for me and my wife picked it up.

When I got it home, I tried all my existing DVD, CD +-R RW etc disks and it played them all.

For the ultimate test I just threw some MPG and DIVX files on a DVD and popped the DVD in the drive, up it came with a menu of all the different files and I could play them all.

    Fantastic.
