Hello,
I have been enjoying the ability to play these fine movie formats on my philips dvp642 but would like to make a dvd which has an autoplay feature and menu system with DiVX/XviD/AVI/MPEG all mixed together on one dvd. Is there a way to do this?
Also I would like to make single CD's with one XviD or DiVX, etc per CD and have that autplay without a menu. Currently when you insert one of these discs it will bring you to a menu where you must select the movie to play, but i would like to insert the disc and have it just start playing.
Thanks!

i don't think you can do that, autoplay depends on the dvd player, i have to do the same thing with my dvd player.

You cannot burn a DIVX or XVID .avi to DVD without reencoding to MPEG first because .avi's are not dvd compliant, mpegs are. You'll notice in all the dvd authoring programs that you need mpegs. -
I don't think he meant it that way, but rather can you burn all the various types of files onto a DVD with a menu. That can be done a s a DVD ISO but the menu will be dependent on the player itself with most being rudimentary. Can you make your own selectable menu? Hmmm...I don't think so but I could be wrong...

ok great, clicking on 'disc menu' on the remote allowed the movies to autoplay on insert. late reply to the boards as I was without power from the recent hurricane here in florida.
the only problem im having now is getting Xvid 1.0.1 to work on the machine, it just skips forward in chunks of 10-20 seconds without any sound or video being displayed. Xvid 0.9.1 works great though, i'm going to search the forums to see if there is possibly a firmware upgrade for it. hopefully the chip (i think its ESS) can support the new xvid, but probably not.
P.S. There is no 'autoplay' setting in the machine that I can find. There is a 'preference' menu option but it is grayed out and I can't select it.
thanks for the tip on DISC MENU pharaoh^J, but like oldfart13 said I'm just burning a data dvd with multiple movies on it and with these types of discs the default for the player is to show the DISC MENU rather than autoplay. but it works now after pressing the button!
