If you find a link to purchase such an item so that everyone can know the price and not need to do any work, you'll be more likely to get a taker. But, to be honest, while I'd possibly chip in a sum of money for such an item, I don't particularly care about such a feature. The discs are expensive, and often I use MtR to rip the discs, and then I handbrake them.
If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

I have a copy of Toast 6.0.7, but I'd happily donate $15 to the cause (for all your hardwork in continuing the development of MTR)...DLs would have to go down in price significantly before I'd consider using that feature though.

Lemme know when you get a spot set-up for drive donations!

Im a little confused? What optoin needs to be added?
I was under the assumption that you just needed to rip the disk and then burn - what needs to be added to MTR?

  6. im adding the ability to RIP and BURN DL disks unatended , so no more rip , save , open toast , setup andburn.

just push a button , and wait for the disk to burn. Of course if you only have one drive you will need to hang for the disk change.

    AND...

if the disk is under 4.3GB then you can use the added function on your SL diks to.

IF anyone wants to help with the cost of the 108 that i will need purchase then you can contact WW at the MTR page and email him with your donation adding that its for MTR DualLayer Development.

So far the drives retail for about $130. As donations come in I will update this thread to show the total ( stops over donation )

    Thanks guys for the interest.

  7. I got my NEC 2510A DL drive for $77 from www.newegg.com. It works great with Toast right out of the box. I installed patch Burn to get it to work with the iApps. I haven't tried a DL disk yet though. They cost too much.

How do you like the drive?

Every day i see the price go down a bit, Im tossed up between that one and the DVR-108. Successfully burn 8x disks?

Is Geezer still in Switzerland? Shipping from a US outfit might kill the deal. I dunno about mainland Europe, but in England you can get the DVR108 for £60 at http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/Hardware_Section__.html
    - at least shipping might be less!

  10. I saw it for that great proce and did myown research before purchasing. So far, I have been VERY happy with the drive. Burning a complete DVD+R in seven minutes is great.

  11. Thoughton,
postage from England to Switzerland is more expensive than from USA to switzerland ,

All to do with us not being in EU i guess.

Listen to this , 1 small box of choccies from london will cost 15.00 GBP to send to France. The same Box will cost 31.00 GBP to send 10KM further over the border to me in CH.

    Overkill eh!

  12. Thoughton , just did the calcs for the site you mentioned...

    A good price indeed BUT...

They dont even have CH on the delivery calculator AND if you select a country like Germany for instance , they are still going to charge you VAT even thou its being exported !!!!

pushes the price up by 10GBP .

And the CH border guys will make me pay import duty on it as well , so i get taxed twice!

Ouch that stinks. I thought they would drop VAT since youre not even in the EU. I guess you should just get one from the US then. Since the dollar is so weak at the moment perhaps it's worthwhile!

I hear ya about international delivery charges. I blame Fedex myself. My DVD-RAM drive cost about US$250 last year, plus 50 bucks next day air from the US to the UK. I thought that was reasonable, until Fedex's f%&$#ing local courier charges me £70 C.O.D. (this is in addition to the $50!) for the trip from Stansted airport to my house (about 10 miles)!!!
