well a friend bought me some longten 001. I believe it's from sonic, but I threw away the wrapper. I'm new to this whole dvd burning stuff. As I've read over the months, media/burners are finicky and what not. So I've gotten some ideas of what to buy(media) from this forum. Thanks. My first purchase was the maxells(MXL) they were great! But I've been trying my luck on cheaper media and found they work a little differently.
Anyways after being able to burn at 4X with the Longtens and not being able to read it with my dvd-rom or my burner I got confused as to why it would not read on these drives but will play on stand alone dvds.
(Longten 001) why can't I read it on my toshiba sd-M1712 or my optorite dd0405 after I have burned it at 4X?(backing up dvds)
Since I was not registered to this forum I couldn't ask for help earlier and had to do a little research. And updated the firmware for the toshiba dvd-rom and the optorite dd0405(160i). So now my dvd-rom will read the burned dvd-r's but my optorite will not at 4X burns. My friend had no problem reading it on his drives(not sure what they are). But the drives I had that weren't updated by firmware would read the burns at 2X.
As of yet I haven't been able to find a reason why this would be.
Just needing a little clarification.
Any info would be appreciated.
