  1. I was just wondering if anyone else here likes scifi tv like Star Trek, Stargate, Farscape, Babylon 5, Sliders, ect? If you do you probably recognize my user as Security Chief Michael Garibaldi from Babylon 5.

  4. Stargate Sg-1 has been awesome. Its such a great show, it incorporates so many aspects of culture. flaninacupboard: Have you checked out any other scifi series? I bet if you like stargate you would like others too.

well i like all the ones you listed, B5 is probably my favourite because of the depth and consistency of the story. there's been some good shows over the years that have gone nowhere, like Codename Eternity, Prey, Ultraviolet. some older stuff is still good, like quantum leap, Dr Who, lost in space etc.

I'm hoping stargate transforms into an all-out space mobilised war. hard to beat ships flying round and shooting crap at each other

  6. flaninacupboard: Did you hear the rumours about stargate (spoilers, highlight to read) that at the end or late part of season 8 the goa'uld will go to war with the replicators, effectively diminising the goa'ulds powerbase. Babylon 5 is my favorite too, the storys are so full and rich, you can watch them time and time again and still see thing about them that you didn't before. I also like how unlike star trek (don't get me wrong, I really like trek too) b5 doesn't end each episode with the status quo being restored, characters are forever changed by their actions. I also like how the characters aren't perfect, they are human. One thing that was really neat was watching the technomage's prediction to londo, "I see a great hand reaching out of the stars. The hand is your hand. And I hear billions of people crying your name." "My followers," asks londo. "No, your victims."

    Hello,
I don't have cable but I like most of the shows.

    Star Trek - YES!

Babylon 5 - OK (from the little I saw of it on broadcast tv)

Stargate - Loved the movie, never really got into the tv show.

Sliders - Huh? Oh it wasn't too bad. Kinda weird though (I know its standard fair for scifi but some shows are tough to catch on too).

    Kevin

P.S. I'm open to most sci fi.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

yeah, little things like Vir waving at the cold dead face of Mr Morden, just as he wished, make it worth watching. and you actually care when ivannova is paralysed. and the sinclair/velenn story is inspired.

I hadn't heard that about SG1, and it doesn't seem to make sense. all the replicators are in Thors' galaxy, aren't they?

    Kevin

P.S. The slowest dullest Star Trek by far. And I hate saying that because I'm a Star Trek nut.

i wasn't impressed with enterprise. not sure if it's still being shown over here.
    main problems
    1) a trek series needs a character who wishes to be more human (Spock, Data, Odo, The Doctor)
    2) the theme tune sucks sweaty dog balls
    3) i keep humming the theme tune from quantum leap while watching.

    Hello,
Thayne - If all you want is hot babes why don't you pop in your reruns of Baywatch and let Enterprise die a slow death (so we can get the good Star Trek like TNG back on).

  14. Interesting:

Riding the wave of the digital age, the new season of Star Trek: Enterprise began production today (Thursday) with a whole new approach to shooting the show. The age-old familiarity of celluloid film has been replaced with high-definition digital video.

Still won't save Enterprise. Now we can suffer in EXCITING HDTV! Ooooh, I can hardly wait (oh, I don't have to, I don't have hdtv!)

    Hello,
Thayne - The only help would be if more TNG and VOY regulars get on the show.

    Kevin

    Like Spiner is this season.

    Hello,
Thayne - There not supposed to KNOW the Romulans. They already cheated by having a direct encounter with them. Ok, they didn't show the faces but come on, where's the consistency?

    Like Spiner is this season.
Something else to look forward to this year is a guest spot on Enterprise for Brent Spiner. Presumably Spiner will appear in a three-episode arc fairly early in the season as an ancestor of Dr. Noonien Soong, Data's inventor. Robert Picardo mentioned this in his Wednesday chat with STARTREK.COM.

It remains to be seen whether an appearance by Shatner would employ the same concept, i.e., he would play an ancestor of Jim Kirk. As the season unfolds, it should all — to use camera vernacular — come into focus.

  21. Yes!

The adventure leads the ship to the "Borderland," which is an area of space between the Klingon Empire and the Orion Syndicate. This will be the first encounter with the Orions, and we will get to see the green "slave women" introduced in "The Cage."

  22. Babylon5 is my favorite. Also liked Earth:Final Conflict (except season5), but Andromeda was very disappointing, didnt think Gene Roddenberry series could get THAT bad. It was ok at first but goes down to just plain dull, season 4 was hardly worth watching at all. Lexa Doig as Andromeda is a pluss, incredible beautiful girl.
Farscape was ok, Stargate is good, but i only have season 1 to 4. One of my favorites was Space:Above&Beyond, McQueen is just too cool, sad it was only 1 season.
StarTrek: Voyager just doesnt do it for me, and i dont like Janeway much, shes almost as annoying as Wesley in TNG. I like TNG anyway, enterprise is good to, and DS9 of course.

Any SciFi fans here who have NOT seen Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy? Its a must-see.

Re-runs of old sci-fi shows are wonderful, even if there compressed for more commercials. Their original programming is all garbage, the movies are worthless.
Enterprise is the first Star Trek series I don't copy first run off TV. The series is just bad and will probably kill the francise. Note it has been moved to the friday wasteland,a sure sign of poor ratings and iminent cancellation.
It's got the worst, most un-interesting characters in francise history. The "captain" is the worst actor since Eric Roberts,he has the stage pressence of a paper cup.

  24. Star Trek is supposed to have bad actors, its a tradition . The only really good actor they had was Koenig, he was maybe the best actor in Babylon 5 as Bester. Many good actors in B5, i guess theres many opinions on the best, but i liked Koenig.
    Ok, thats my 700th post!

Did you see boxleitner in that old western TV series? I was just a kid back then, i thought that series was so great, but i remember me and my siblings was a bit embarrassed on behalf of "Luke" played by Boxleitner. =)
So who was the WORST actor in B5? I have to say Sinclair (Michael O'Hare), no wonder Boxleitner had to take over after only 1 season.
