Mpeg Video Wizard or Nero Vision Express if you want to edit it. If not, try just renaming ".VOB" to ".MPG". Sometimes that works.

    Hello,
Could you list your computer specifications first? Then we can give you a better estimate.

Also, are you going from vob to mpg on the harddrive or is this a dvd rip?

    Kevin

--Another question, are you doing mpeg2 for dvd or mpeg1 for vcd?---
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Renaming ".VOB" to ".MPG"? Are you sure?

    My PC is
    Intel P4 1.6G
    256 RAM

Infact, I want to take some of my golf DVD and share it for my friends.

    What my understanding is :
    1. Decrypt DVD to H/D
    2. Convert it to mpg

Please correct me if I am wrong?

    Many thanks.

    Hello,
Share? How? What's the destination - dvd, cdr, net?

You might try divx to make it smaller. If you have a dvd burner just use dvd decrypter or dvdshrink to make a backup.

Dvd rips usually take anywhere from 10 - 30 minutes depending on certain factors.

Copy the edited mpeg to CDR, I don't have DVDR.

Back to the question, how much time required for vob and mpg conversion?

Encode the the vob to svcd with tmpgenc, will take around 2-3 hours for a modern computer, maybe one hour if you use cbr with a 2ghz computer and faster.
