  1. even when i set iuVCR to 29.97, the result will always be 29.967 according to virtual dub. is there any ways of changing the frame rate correctly, so i can maintain the audio in sync, i've tried converting it in virtual dub but ended up with bad result. thanks.

    Hello,

Why don't you use the software that came with your capture card? That SHOULD ensure the correct fps.

Does the original file have sync problems? If not, leave it alone.

  4. Of course, if he wants to create a DVD or VCD it isn't going to work too well .

iuVCR allows you to change a lot of settings in regards to how it maintains audio sync -- one of these options is to use the audio stream as a timing source and match the video to it, which causes the framerate to vary because of drops.

To get a perfect 29.97fps, do the following:

First, make sure you actually have it set to 29.97fps. Second, select Master Stream: Video on the options tab. That should do it.

Has Ivan added the resample audio dynamically feature to his IuVCR? I bought his program and used it for a while but I had progressive sync issues with a lot of my longer captures that VirtualVCR solved so I've been using it ever since. IuVCR is a nice program aside from that though. I use it on a different PC for other stuff (not captures) and it's great. If I'm capturing though it's VirtualVCR all the way. Can't beat the price, either!

  6. If I understand the documentation right, telling it to sync using the video as master stream should drop audio samples as necessary to keep sync. It isn't quite dynamic resampling, but it should sound fine. This, of course, will only work right if the audio is running ahead of the video, if it is the other way around you will still have problems.

  7. of course... my intention is not to push anyone to use the capturing software that i think is better. BUT, i think you should make a test with a 29.970 dvd.

If you have a dvd player at home, and you have some dvds at 29.970, well.... try to make a capturing of 30 seconds, and rip that section to the computer, and compare the frames count.

is the only way to be sure that you're getting all the data you need.

to do the test, use avi_io at "29.970" not "29.97", or virtualdub.

if the captured video match with the ripped one, then is time to throw iuvcr to the garbage.

I've tried it both ways setting one stream as the master and always had longer caps (3 hours+) going out of sync. Most of the stuff I capture from the TV is usually sports of some type and they almost always go 3 hours+. I haven't tried it on this PC though. The last time I used it to cap something was on my old board with the 333 mhz 2600+ setup. I use the onboard sound so I have to offset with a delay regardless, but I am using a smaller delay with the faster machine now. Maybe it will be different now? I'll give it a shot & let you know.

  9. Sorry, I can't really say. I have had sync problems with iuVCR too.

VirtualVCR may help.. it is free, too.

Which way does the sync drift? I mean, does the audio go ahead of the video or the video go ahead of the audio?

I'm using a negative value delay to advance the sound. I gave up on capturing with IuVCR close to a year ago. Been using VirtualVCR with no problems ever since. I'd just like to be able to use IuVCR to capture with because I think overall it's a real nice program with an interface I like, and well, I did actually pay for the damn thing.

The video drops frames, but the audio does not. Typical reason.
