i'm going to buy a dvd/hd recorder but i don't know which of the two listed
they have bot a 80gb HD
Panasonic:
it supports only dvd-ram and dvd-r writing
Pioneer:
it does not support RGB IN (that's incredible....)
it supports dvd-rw and dvd-r writing
just a question about panasonic e85

By recording steps" I assume you mean selectable recording times. If so, it has the standard 30, 60, 90, 120, 240, 360 minute (IMS), and it has "FR" mode which adjusts the bitrate on the fly to fill the DVD with the time selected. It maxes out at 15 Mbps, (again if memory serves)Originally Posted by Toxie

Yes, but that depends on where you live, maybe.
