  1. I thought I would never get a coaster by getting reputable media like Verbatim by MCC & Japan made Panasonic. I even did a disc image burn of the movie that I ripped using MTR 1st and tested it, then used the copy tab to burn the disc image in dvd-rw and after everything works, tried it on a Verbatim DVD-r and I get the error message
    Drive reported an error:
Sense key = Medium Error, Sense code = oxoc, write error

Reboot and tried the panasonic and it has the same error. Erased and reburn the dvd-rw and it worked. Tried on another DVD-R and again same error. Even tried dvd-rw to dvd-r copy and have the same problem. Have used this external TDK drive for about a month with no problem. Any ideas why this problem is cropping up.

  2. Have you tried repairing permissions? It's a bit like voodoo, but I find it works wonders.

another source of magic that i find is to run things like Drive 10 or DiskWarrior whatever those two do they seem to always fix whatever problem i am experiencing that is wierd

lately, its been that my mouse dissapears after watching movies fullscreen in latest VLC

dont know whats happening, ran those and boom its back to norm
    good luck

you could always try erasing/reinstalling Toast

  4. I also read from another forum that someone else had also experienced the same error message with different drive and media using 6.0.7. so I guess updating the software is not the solution.
I did a repair disc permission and before I test another dvd-r here are a few things I would like to verify.
In the recorder setting, write disc is selected, audio write mode is DAO, simulation mode and buffer underrun are both unchecked.
I use toast copy tab and dragging the dvd image file which I have created using the data tab and selecting dvd-rom (UDF) for test purposes into it and click record. That's what I've been doing since I figure a disc image (which works with no problem) is like a real dvd on a second drive. Again this works on dvd-rw with no problem. Has anyone ever tried it? Thanks for all your help.

  5. Finally solved the problem on my media burn. It was actually the TDK burner. I tested it by buying another TDK burner and using the same dvd-rw that failed to erased or write in my previous burner and it worked. Now as a follow up question, I have a firewire harddrive stack on top of my previous external burner. Would the harddrive (even though unplugged) affect or ruin an external burner or is it a just a coincident?

Just make sure it isn't blocking any air vents, and it should be fine.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."
