one day while i was at school slacking off and visiting the site and i saw a post talking about if u want better then VCD quality but ur player doesnt play SVCDs to just make the SVCD and demux it and then mux it back together as a non-compliant VCD. there is more to the process then that and i'd really love to be able to do this since my DVD player doesnt play SVCDs. i browser all the forums and on my crappy 56k it took about 4 hours, no joke. so if sum1 could please help me i'd be very happy. thanx.

hmm. interesting one. well, seeing as you know your dvd player can play mpeg2 (dvd) and you probably know what kind of bitrates it can handle, create file of a sensible bitrate as svcd, remux as non-compliant vcd and test it! i know that the player i have will try and play files of incorrect stream types.

NB, what player do you have, and can it handle XVCD's? this is a much easier option.....

I think, what you mean is a XVCD with 480x480 resolution @ svcd bitrates, doesn't matter if mpeg1 or mpeg2. If your player can handle that, do it. There is nothing special.
