  1. Hi All,
I have heard good reports using Intervideo Copy 2, so I have downloaded a trial. Once I have encoded the DVD to my hard drive there is no AUDIO_TS folder. I thought this folder was needed for home DVD players. Once burnt to my DVD-R I get no sound either on my PC or Home DVD player. Is this because the trial version is crippled, or am I doing something wrong.
    Thanks.

  2. Well, I was under the impression that the AUDIO_TS folder is pretty useless? Am I wrong?

Whenever I back up my DVD's, I never put anything into that folder, only the VIDEO_TS folder...

You dont need to worry about the AUDIO_TS folder. This has NOTHING to do with the VIDEO_TS folder. AUDIO_TS is for a different format of audio known as DVD AUDIO which is high resolution audio, playable at 24bit/96 khz in surround and 24/192 khz in stereo.

A DVD AUDIO compatible player is required to play these high resolution audio, most dvd players will not play DVD AUDIO.

Your problem lies somewhere else, maybe in the software used for authoring.

At least 50% of the retail DVD's I've looked at have NO AUDIO_TS folder,it is not required.

  5. But, if you want to be more compliant with the specs for DVD-Video, you should put it in because the specs do call for it (even though it's usually empty).

Some burning programs will fail the compliancy test if this folder is missing, but in the real world it probably will never cause you any problems.

  6. Thanks for the info on this folder. However I am still in the dark re no sound from my backups using Intervideo Copy 2. DVD shrink and copy to DVD work fine.

    Any suggestions re Intervideo ?
    Cheers

Use windvd or powerdvd and play your dvd files before you burn them to see if you have sound on your computer.

  8. You could also try choosing sound manually by pushing the audio button on your remote...

Most likely Intervideo did something wonky, like set DTS as the primary audio track. Whether or not it did this because you hit the wrong button... remains to be seen.
