I'm curious that since DVD+R DL is around the corner is any effort being put into DVD-R DL?I've yet to here mention of it ever really.I've searched and searched but google takes it for DVD+R DL which dosen't help me much.I'm holding off on a dual layered drive if this in fact is ever coming.

DVD+R DL is already here. Do a forum search here and you'll find plenty about it.
DVD-R DL is supposed to become available close to the end of this year. That means it could be anytime after that -
at $10 a piece for blank DVD+R DL it is still cheaper to buy second copy of the same DVD as a backup than burn it on DVD+R DL... at least most of the older movies.

True, but -/+R media was quite expensive when it first came too, so most likely the price will get more acceptable in "near" future. (Whenever that is )
*Bitsetting (change booktype to DVD-ROM for increased compatibility)
*CAV writing stategy, (reviews have shown that a 12X CAV burner writes faster than a 16X CLV burner, see http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/10135)
*Minimum 8X DL writing (who wants to wait for around 50 minutes writing at 2.4X with current DL Burners)
*DL feature for both + and - though DVD-R DL is still to come, would like to have a choice of using both :P
