My captured file (mpeg-2, 352x480) is in perfect sync. I open the file in TDA, and it's still in sync. Edit out the commercials, still in sync. Author the DVD, and it's now OUT of sync. What's going on here? I thought that TDA didn't do anything to the video files. How can I get the audio to stay in sync with the video?
SUCCESS: VideoReDo fixed the sync issues.

So please explain how VideoReDo fixed this problem. I am having the same problem as you. Audio is in perfect sync on the original captrure. But when I use TMPGE DVD to author, its out of sync. So I downloaded the trial of VideoReDo, edited my video, and the audio was perfect. Authored the new clip that I used VideoReDo on and the audio is out of sync just like before. So please explane how you got it to work.

I find that tmpgenc dvd author doesnt put files out of sync, its usually streaming errors that throw of the sync when you remux,i tested this with files that went out of sync in tda,i demuxed and remuxed with bbmeg and sure enough the audio went fubar.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
You did check for dropped frames before you put the file into DVD Author didn't you? Otherwise, sync problems will probably crop up. This was another reason I went the DVD recorder route...no dropped frames!

I can check for dropped frames with V-dub right? If I find dropped frames what can I do about them.
Thanks -
I think I might have found my problem. I thought my audio was 48mhz, but in fact its 44mhz. So TMPGE DVD Author is reencoding my audio right? So I need to re-encode it first. What would be a good program to do this?
Thanks -

I used DSFMgr (DirectShow Filter Manager) to remove the filters I suspected could be causing the problem. After doing this, I have not had ANY sync problems (zero) regardless of the source. TMPGEnc DVD Author reencodes my audio from 44.1 khz to 48 khz with no problems.
How do you tell which filter may be causing the problem? That's a good question. The authors of Zoom Player have found several filters to be problematic and actually built in an option to prevent them from being used. I would think those would be a good place to start. I'll list them below.
BiCubic Resizer
Divx Antifreeze
DeDynamic Audio Filter
Ligos MPEG Splitter
Morgan Stream Switcher
SpeedMachine
Subtitle Mixer
Subtitle Parser
TFM Audio Filter
TimeMachine
Not all of these have to do with audio, but I wanted to give the whole list.
But always remember, when you remove filters you always stand the chance of causing some program or video file that currently works to stop functioning, so it's a good idea to know how to get them back before removing them.
Hope this helps!!!
