    Hi all,

This is my first time posting here so I hope that I got the right forum. I am helping my dad backup some of the movies from his DVD collection and have made several successful backups of most of his movies. He wants excellent quality and to keep the menu's for both discs. So I have been using DVD Remake (version 1.4.6) to do this and have been successful almost 100% of the time. However, there is one movie that didn't turn out right.

That movie is "From Hell", one of my dad's personal favorites. The first disc works in every way but the second disc has no sound. Let me clarify that by there is no sound in the movie. No music, no characters talking, etc... however, there is sound for the menu's. Which is very strange. I used the exact same methods that I used when backing up the other movies, but for some reason this movie's second disc just didn't get the sound copied to it.

The only theory that I can come up with is that when I created the second disc I skipped the menu (and several other commands) of the movie to start playing at a certain program in the main PGC. Well by doing this I think that I left out initializing the audio, but I didn't know if that was possible or not. Although I think that is unlikely because I have never seen this problem before with my own DVD collection or my dad's, it seems just with this one movie (which could just be that one rare instance where the DVD author decided to put that little quirk in to make it very hard to backup).

Has anyone else had any problems with sound in DVD Remake or know if there is a flag for activating the sound on a DVD? Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you

chances are that this is exactly the problem as skipping commands etc is not recommended ans should only be attempted if you know the consequences

the audio will probably still be there as I don't think DRM strips the audio data. I've tried a few ways to 'trick' it into stripping it like I can with other programs but it always keeps it

if you do want to start jumping to other parts of the DVD then what you need to do is get hold of Marks Tray DVD player (might not be the latest). This program shows you all the register values when playing and it's far simpler to see what is going on as you can also play the output and compare values and check for differences

you would play the DVD as normal and navigate to the part you want to jump to. Make a note of the values (see example pic below) and then when you jump you would set things like audio/sub streams etc to the same values by using the commands
