I recently purchased this unit and I am extremely happy with its operation except I am experiencing 1 problem. I have tried 3 units and all exhibit the same problem. Every time I turn off the unit and turn it on again it will not play any store bought DVD's (the picture is hopping) unless I reset the unit and go through the initial setup again. I do not have this problem with any recordings I make on the 210 only with store bought DVD's. Pioneer has no answers. I don't believe it's a defect, but rather believe it is something to do with the setup. Has anyone else encountered this problem or have any suggestions, Thank You.

I have never had any problems with mine either. Again, I only use mine as a VCR replacement as well. I would much rather dirty up the optics on a cheapo player (another Pioneer in my case) than my recorders
At the same time though, I would expect that it should play as well as it records. My trial with 2 commercial DVD's did not exhibit the problem you encountered though. Both of my recorders were made in April 2004, in Japan.
