Best Buy was all out of stock on the Vertabim DVD-R 25 pk that were on sale, for the second time this week, so instead of giving me a raincheck, they offered to substitute instead (I will not be able to get over there again before the sale is over) I was adament about them NOT being Memorex or TDK, since TDK has since switched to CMC, so I opted for the Fuji 8x.

DVDInfoPro shows them as being FUJIFILM03. Any ideas or comments on them? I just now checked, so I haven't had a chance to burn one yet.

PS. Still happy over the Samsung DVD+R TY gems I got on Newegg.

Where have you seen TDK DVD-R as CMCMAG ?
They're still using TDKG02 for 2x and now TTG01 for 4x. Both are quite good.

    Only DVD+R uses the CMC

Does this hold true for the spindles made in Taiwan?

Taiyo Yuden DVD-R or Maxell DVD-R here.

I've come not to trust anything else!

My original question regarding the Fuji disks still has not been addressed. Does anyone know who makes them? The media code is showing FUJIFILM03.

They are a 25 pk spindle made in Taiwan. I've had success with the Fuji DVD-R made in Japan, but how much different are these?

I don't know who makes FUJIFILM03 but it does sound like that it is probably Prodisc.

The MADE IN JAPAN Fuji DVD-R discs have always been Taiyo Yuden but you can buy Taiyo Yuden much cheaper direct from on-line stores such as RIMA.COM

  10. There are several entries in the media list for this dye type, including one I put there.

    For example:

Generally most people seem to like them.

  11. Fuji may be made by Moser Bauer of India(MBI). They are a new player that is coming into DVD media production. Of course I have no proof but I know they MFG some of their media that is shipped in the India region.

  12. Were you able to burn at 8x with these? I assume they're the ones marked "up to 8x". I bought a couple spindles at Best Buy last month & could only get them to burn at 2x. Disappointing to say the least...

  13. Yes - Pioneer 07, official firmware.

    No problem at 8x.
