This isn't your typical size question. I know how to split the files, and calculate size.
I have converted an old divx movie I had and it worked great. Kept it under 1600 meg - split it into 2 discs. Beautiful.
I have an issue that has come up with 2 new divx encoded movies and I know I am missing something easy.
When converting divx to mpeg2 using TMPGenc it seems to actually double the size of the mpeg2. But if you watch then encoding the movie is actually done by the time the counter reaches 50% and it continues on with a black screen til it hits a 100%. At which point I have a movie that is 2.8 gig instead of 1.4 - half of which is a black screen and I believe there is no sound. At least thats what happened on the last try I did.
Am I using the wrong codec? Is there a new technique in DivX encoding that would make the conversion to mpeg2 so much larger?
I am a newbie, true. So, any help or pointers in the right direction would be killer.
Thanks a lot.
