  1. Hey, ive got a philips dvd740vr combo player. well ive burned a PAL vcd and i was watching it on my dvd player and it was playing perfectly, well about 20 minutes into the movie it just froze up, i'd stop the movie and power off the dvd player, put the movie in and try again, it would get to roughly the same spot and freeze again, well after just letting the movie sit there in play mode but back to watching tv, i switched back to the movie after a few minutes and it had progressed to another part, but it has some serious lag issues. barely playing maybe a frame every few seconds, any ideas?

Sounds like your DVD player has compatability issues. Mine did that too with xVCDs. Not much I could have done. Try a store bought PAL VCD and see if it plays well. If so, then burn another PAL VCD with the EXACT PAL VCD specs.
