Received my replacement printer yesterday from Epson, RX600 and everything is working fine, including my continuous ink system. One question for all the experts. Since installing the CIS system everytime I print a document I get the following "nag screen" prior to the printer going into printing the document. This is causing, I think, my printer to go into an extensive, and I do mean extensive, head cleaning process for each and every document I print, no exceptions, I mean each and every document. This does 2 things, 1) uses a tremendous amount of ink unnecessarily, and 2) fills up the waste ink pad very fast causing me to have to take the printer to an epson service dealer and pay to have this pad replaced and waste counter reset. This sounds just like something epson would do. I think the nag screen alerts the printer that I am not using epson cartridges and therefore makes the printer go thru this extensive head cleaning process in order to force me to use and waste ink unnecessarily. Does anyone know how I can eliminate this "nag screen". I would really appreciate any help or advice. By the way the printer goes into this extensive head cleaning mode whether you are printing a color photo or whether you are printing a black and white letter, doesn't matter, uses a ton of ink doing both. Thanks guys for your help.

I can never get an image to work, just too stupid I guess, anyway the nag screen says, "The cartridges being used are not epson cartridges, do you want to continue, yes or no".

  3. Get that nag screen with my 900 and its comp carts when you put new one's in, but it dosent run through a cleaning process after clicking OK. Maybe them chips arnt working right. Once you have clicked OK you should'nt get the message up again till you change carts which in your case would be never....

iooi thanks for the info. I am going to have to do something, ink will cost a fortune this way. Maybe I will have to put epson chips on the aftermarket cartridges and just reset them with the chipsetter. Hate to have to do this though because I run the risk of getting air in the lines when I reset the carts. Carts seem to work ok now as they automatically reset to full each time printer is powered on/off. Maybe this is just something Epson has programmed into their newer printers so that printer does a head cleaning on every print job, wouldn't surprise me with Epson if in fact they did this. Hopefully I can find a solution in the near future. Thanks again for the reply. Have a great weekend.

UPDATE - PROBLEM CORRECTED. Don't know why but after I reset the printer to "factory default settings" it is now printing without going thru the head cleaning cycle. Still get the nag screen but I guess I can or will have to live with that, at least now I am not wasting a lot of ink. Just thought I would pass this along in case anyone else might run into this problem. Thanks everyone and have a great weekend.

Thanks for the update on your problem. We all that use this printer need to know these things.

  7. Golfnut open your printer folder and go to the printer properties once there go to printing preferences and select the maintenance tab click on the speed and progress button and disable the monitor. Printing will start faster and you'll never get the nag screen again.
