  1. You know I bought my Sony Dru500a in October 2001 from dell for $230 which was cheap back then. Since, sony has given us the 4x dvd+r abilities and through time updated firmwares. Well if that wasn't enough, when I first bought my Sony drive and installed the software it came with mydvd 4 which was ok software. In the brochure that came with the drive in small print, it listed a web page for an update of mydvd. Well a few years ago it did have an update to like 4.5 or something. Well now that same link upgrades you to MyDVD5.2.3 Build 522B72A Full download which includes the Dolby Digital ac3. Now, I don't personally think the software is worth paying for, but for free I will keep it in the catalog. Well Sony Users enjoy. Here is the link that was in the blue fold out that came with your drive. By the way this is good for a few of the Sony models.

Hello-I tried to get those Sonic updates for a year before I finally gave up on it. I recently brought my DRU500a back to life: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=228739, but I'll pass on Sonic products.
