  1. I have been capturing and viewing videos without problems. All of a sudden, there were problems in both capture and viewing. I was in Win98 and so I upgraded to Win2K Professional. I installed WinDVD 6 and I still get the invalid format error message when I try to play an mpg file. These files will play in WMV.

Download the latest Windows Media Player 9. Get the XP one which will install/update the necessary codecs required for your Win2k setup. Here >

  3. When I tried to download it, it said that it would could only be installed on Windows XP.
Also, you mean that Windows Media Player will currently play .mpg files and WinDVD6 won't. So, this means I should install a new version of Windows Media Player? Makes no sense to me but I guess, as you were saying, the new codecs. I'll try downloading the one for Win2K and see what happens.
