Hello,
I am currently having a problem with my Stand alone DVD recorder.
Hopefully, someone can help me.
The Brand is: SANSUI
The Model# is: VRDVD4005
I bought it last Christmas from SEARS.
I hope I can make sense with describing my problem... hopefully someone who has encountered, can help.
I've been taking some old VHS tapes and of course wanted to put them on DVD.
I am using a Imation DVD-RW, so I can re-use the DVD over and over.
I put the DVD-RW in, my mode to record is set at VIDEO.
As I start to record my tape, eventually some where, the frames tend to blend into one another and jump around.
Once I stop the process, it keeps the "PROCESSING PLEASE WAIT" screen on for a while, then it tends to make some kind of humming noise, until it shuts off itself and restarts on it's own.
The VHS tapes I have are clean, stored, un-dusted tapes, everything on it, is wrestling events of the WWF, etc. recorded from the TV, nothing here is from their official tapes.
That's all I get for errors, I do not get "CANNOT RECORD - C2##" or "DISC ERROR - C2##"
The record decides to make this decision on it's own when it feels like it, as to, what match it wants to do this in and what time.
Hopefully someone here knows what's wrong.
Thank You, I hope I have clearly described what's wrong.

I tested this unit about 2 months ago and returned back to Sears in less than 3 days, had a few problems myself including a couple of coaster, slow disc finalization and troublesome menu. There's no support from neither Sears or Sansui, too bad it's over 60 days so you can't return it back to them. They're cleaning out stores inventory and dumping them on eBay, most are open boxes, repaired or bare units that sell for around $180. Good luck with Orion (www.orionsalesinc.com) they manufacture the Sansui for Sears, but not word of the VRDVD4005 on their webpage.

I have had the 4005 Sansui for a good while now and have processed 40+ DVD-R's through it with only a couple coasters due to copy protected VHS tapes. What you described sounds like copy protected material. I ran into that when I was recording a program on a subscription service, of course it is possible your Sansui could be at fault. I use only Verbatim media but have used the TDK RW that came with the unit and had no problems with it. Are these WWF tapes the only ones you are having trouble with or is all the tapes you tried doing this?
