I wanted to buy cdrs and rws from http://www.pricewatch.com and i wanted to know if most standalone dvd players will take the "Generic" type. For instance, I know that some dvd players are picky when it comes to layer color. What layer is played by most dvd players. Should I paste covers on the disc to help the laser reflection? What I am lookin for is this => "You should not have a problem with xxxxx layer" or "If you want to go the cheap route do this you cant go wrong". ANY help is appreciated. I look forward to your posts. Thank you very much!

I've had really good luck with Imation...and, although I think Pricewatch is ALWAYS the way to go for any hardware, I think you'll find that you can find better prices at compusa or Bestbuy during sales and rebate specials....you can get 25 imation 700 mb cd-rs for $2.99 at Compusa right now....

What about these?

Hello? Anybody there?

Don't know about the one's you are asking specifically about but, as a general rule, I always go for the 700MB discs for general use. It's just nice to have a bit of extra room to wiggle. Also, I think the shipping charges at Pricewatch.com (which are usually too high) sort of offset any price breaks you might get for CD-Rs. I really would suggest Bestbuy or Compusa.....

That price you gave the link to was pretty high for generic.
I have seen 50 piece 650 Imation Blue Tortillas for $9.99 -
Thurbs,
Where?
And i would like to know what brand or layer does most dvd players play?

I can get them (imation blues) from a place here in town. They are a hit and miss type place. Some days they will have them, some days not.
I personally use the cheap Hi-Val 650's (100 piece spindle for $4.99 after rebate) on my APEX 600 which has played everything I have ever burnt, from the most luxurious TDK's to the less romantic CompUSA cheapies....
Depending on your DVD player depends on what it will read.
My parents Hitachi (P.O.S.), and Brothers Zenith (which is identical to the Hitachi minus the namebrand) will not play anything that I burned. I read an article at DVD-Digest that explains the type of lasers DVD's use and why certain media will only play in certain machines.
In reality if you are planning to purchase a DVD player, or spend a big amount on CD-R's check the compatablity list, you can get a general idea from there.
