good day fellow burners,
I have a question, I got a memorex dvd +/-RW true8xn as a birthday gift and since they just come out with dual layer burning. does anyone know if memorex has released a firmware upgrade for the dvd +/- Rw true 8xn that allows dual layer burning?
I have been to memorex site and I just get confused with all the firmware upgrades and I am afraid, I might choose the wrong upgrade and break my drive.
thanks for any help,
schunn99

As far as I know, Memorex doesn't have a DL burner yet, nor do they have firmware to upgrade any of their drives to DL. It also seems this drive is a Pioneer 107. They don't have any plans to upgrade to DL either.
Sorry.
The only company I've seen so far talking about offering an "Official" firmware upgrade to DL burning is BenQ with the DW822A.Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
There are 3 versions of the True 8x.
The original is a Pioneer 107. (max CD-R: 24x) Not DL upgradeable.
The second is a NEC 2500A. (max CD-R: 32x) Unofficially DL upgradeable.
Thie third is a LiteOn 812S. (max CD-R: 40x) Unofficially DL upgradeable.
If your drive is one of the 2 later versions, then you can treat your drive as if it was a NEC 2500A or a LiteOn 812S, whichever is appropriate, and flash it do a DL burner. -
I stand corrected. I wonder why they only list one version on their site.
Thanks for the update.Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
