  1. Please offer your opinion on the best ATI MMC settings for a CAV LaserDisc capture. Would this be considered a progressive source? I am using ATI MMC 8.7 and have tried recommended settings from LordSmurf's site of 720x480, 6-8mbps, encode interlaced and it looks pretty good but I'm curious about if it should be progressive instead. Thanks!

Your source is interlace. 704x480 would be optimal capture size, assuming you have an ATI MMC that will do this size. Otherwise 720x480 is fine too.

  3. Thanks LordSmurf, I'm still using MMC 8.7 (which doesn't do 704x480) basically cuz I read that was the latest version you recommend. Have you approved of any of the latest updates? Also, I am just curious about the CAV's being interlaced...I did try a progressive capture and of course you're right there are 3 full frames followed by 2 interlaced, however that is the same result as when I choose "encode interlaced".

With a fresh install of Windows XP, I found 9.0 to have some decent improvements in resolution support, and then better support of MPEG4 (now native) and WMV.

    8.8 and 8.9 were nightmares.
