    You need to have a software DVD player to play DVDs on your PC. Try PowerDVD or WinDVD.

    If you have software DVD players installed you can have them set to autorun DVDs. You can also set your operating system to autoplay all DVDs using Windows media player, but you will have to have an mpeg1/2 decoder installed on your pc.

    The best way is to include the software DVD player and mpeg2 decoder on the disk itself. For this I use media player classic. Just create a folder named mplay in the root of your DVD. Place media player classic in there along with any filters you will need. ac3filter is a great free ac3 decoder and elucard makes an mpeg2 decoder with a trial period. I use the Intervideo decoder that comes with WinDVD. You'll have to open up media player classic and load the plugins.

    Now create a text file and type

    [autorun]
    OPEN=MPLAY\MPLAY98.EXE "VIDEO_TS" /fullscreen /DVD

    save the file as autorun.inf and place it in the root of your DVD. Now your DVD will autoplay on any windows pc regardless of what software they have installed. I used the windows 98 version of media player in my example because it pretty plays in all os'es, whereas the WinXP version wont play well or at all on Win98, but offers more features when played in WinXP. You can use either version you want, just change the autorun script accordingly.
