  1. i have no problems with VCD'S. i encode my AVI file with TMPGE. i use the standard template for SVCD. i leave all the settings just how they are. i have even tried to change a few settings(raise and lower bitrate, interlace settings). and no matter what i do i can't get a SVCD to play in my player. its an APEX AD-600A. it supports them. i use NERO 5.5 to burn the file. it even burns as a standard compliant SVCD. this is what i get, i insert the disk, the disk begins to load, after about 30 seconds i get the SVCD in the upper left side of the screen, i hear the disk spinning, i press PLAY, then i get the hand, if i don't get the hand then its playing(so it thinks), i hit pause then it says press play to resume, so i press play, but still NO MOVIE. what can i possibly be doing wrong??? if anyone can help i am very greatful. i'll check this post every couple of minutes in hopes someone can help.....

  2. I always uncheck compliancy when authoring a vcd or svcd in Nero 5.5, I dunno if this is correct but it works for me. Have you tried this?

  3. I started having problems with my SVCD's and Nero so I switched to VCD Imager Easy to burn my discs. There's a guide to using it on this site under AUTHOR on the menu at the left. Try it. It's a very easy to use program even with all the extra features... plus I don't have the blue screen of death problems or playback problems that I had with Nero. Hope this helps.

  4. Stevos- i have tried both compliancy and non-compliant. both are a no go for me.

Brute666- i tried the VCD Imager and i got the same response. in addition to what it does in my DVD player after i get the hand and the last thing i do is press stop. i press play again then it says invalid entry. after that the only message i get no matter what i press is invalid entry......

  5. Did you try to play it in another SVCD compatible Player??
If it does play in another one, then it could be that your DVD needs a firmware update.

  6. PCGuy760- i havn't tried it in any other players yet. i have not updated as of yet the apex 600 that i am useing, but i don't know the first thing about firmware upgrades. i have tried the links on here but it seems like its very confusing and i'm afraid that i'll ruin my player if i do. unless you have some easier steps to follow i would greatly appreciate it.

  7. I got this problem too, with my Olidata & Nero 5551, with the past release all was perfect, but maybe there is a bug in the standard svcd names of the folders, if you switch between standard svcd & not standard svcd the name of the folder remains the same (i haven't nero here at work, but if my memory is good is the "entry svd" or something like that).
With movie factory it's all OK, so it's a nero's problem.

  8. If you haven't already trying turning PBC off on your remote. Then hit play. I think that might work.
