ok, i have two, both in widescreen, that i want to put together as one animorphic widescreen movie, then on to a DVD. But, i want it to be one Title on the DVD, and i know TMPGEnc has a Merge tool, but i dont know if it will just take the video, and not the audio, because everytime i convert it to widescreen in TMPGEnc, it makes the video one file, and the audio another. so, is there a way to either, convert the file into 2 animorphic widescreen files, then Merge them, or just combine the 2 converted video files, and the 2 audio files. or will i just be better off Merging them before, then convert them? if so, what should i use for that? thanks.

  2. If your videos are already DVD compliant I suggest you don't do anything and go ahead and author a DVD. As long as the videos have the same resolution, format, aspect ratio and audio, you can have them in the same title. Depending on how the videos were encoded and the capability of the authoring tool, you may even be able to get a seamless transition.

well, the videos are exactly the same, but they are not converted to DVD yet, but i could go and do that, now what program can get a seamless transition of the 2 files?

also, in TMPGEnc, what audio should i go with? PCM or MP2?

  4. Well, if you haven't encoded the files yet, then ignore what I mentioned before. You can merge the files while encoding. If you rename the files as a sequence (say, first file as Video1 and second as Video2) and then in "Environmental setting / General" enable "Open sequence files as a movie", TMPGEnc will encode them as one video.

As for the audio, if you're doing a PAL DVD, you can safely use MP2. If it's a NTSC DVD, it may not be playable on all players. In that case use PCM and convert later to AC3 or, if you're OK on disc space, keep it as PCM.

Actually I found mpeg audio is quite compatible even on older players. I know it's not guarenteed though. I have an old sony dvp s360 that is very picky about formats (no cdrs, no svcds or xvcds) but It does mpeg audio perfectly. It also plays dvd- and + r.

I know its hit or miss but I use this player as a guide for compatiblity, if it plays it most others will too.

P.S. I keep it because it has a ton of output choices
