Finally downloaded, and entered the twentieth century....MMC 8.9 is very nice indeed..

    Question on capture though...
    1. Is there any custom framesize option for capture, or do most people resize their VHS captures from 640x480 to 352x480???

    2. A value of 29.97 FPS is created for capture, yet VirtualDub recognizes the value as 30.711 FPS. What gives???

Are you capturing MPEG2 or AVI? If capturing MPEG2, just use the "Map Presets" to create your own resolution (352X480). Can't help with the odd framerate, mine always comes out 29.968-29.971.

Thanx a lot Almost Human...MMC 8.9 is great..

Unfortunately, even if i catpure PAL footage at 25FPS, VirtualDub sees it as 25.08FPS, so it's definately MMC issue.
Of course, when i capture with VirtualDub, the clips are at the proper settings..

Are you capturing MPEG2 or AVI?
.AVI of course, but, i don't have mpeg2 option..Only Windows Media and AVI

You lost me, why can't you capture MPEG2? Too many dropped frames?

Oops, just caught it..I had to actually click DVD, and then map it...

Yes, i see the 352x480, and am getting pretty exited..I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope that the quality is decent. At least i hope i don't need to encode for a bunch of new tapes coming my way...

Anyhoo, no, i can't lock in the FPS within the .AVI settings..I've tried this in Win98 MMC 8.9, and WinXP MMC 9.1..
It seems that the framerate is actually reading at the actual value of capture..
So if i'm running a crappy tape, and getting a few frame drops, then the value also changes at the .AVI header..
    This is just a guess....
    Any suggestions??
