Interesting problem. I always capture directly from cable. On one occasion I recorded a program on tv using my vcr. I than transferred the vcr copy to my dvd recorder via rca's. After the recording was done. I played the file on my computer and to my amazement I noticed I had also captured the closed caption signal. After I cut the commercials out of the program and burned it to rw. I than turned on the cc on the tv. Now there is no caption. What gives? -garman
