    Hey everyone,

I've 2 DVD's in my collection that I just can't backup... Bloodsport and Little Nicky. They wont even read in any PC. I was thinking copy protection but then why on these low grade movies and not on the likes of the Matrix Revolutions and Master & Commander? I've tried them on 4 DVD drives (one burner, 3 ROM's) and they wont work, but they will work on any standalone DVD player. Niether of the movies have any scratches... And I wanna back them up to keep them that way. Can anyone help?

    Regards,
    KD.

What are you using to (try to) back them up? DVDDecrypter? Smartripper?

Also, is the label side up when you put them in the PC drives? (Have to check every possibility)

  3. Why back them up?

Bloodsport is regularly in the $6.99 bin at Wal-Mart and Im thinking Little Nicky wont be far behind

    Hey,

Haha, yes I have them play side down. I'm not silly :P. And that's a good point about the price, but believe it or not Bloodsport is hard to get here and Little Nicky is about $15-20. The main reason I'm backing my collection up is I have sweet little covers and have designed my own cover template to fit them. normal DVD covers are very big and I'm not keen on them so I store them away in my wardrobe for backup only. Having access to a free colour laser printer is handy too! Have none of you encountered a disc that just wont play in a DVD drive? I can't even hear these 2 spin up in any drives, but they seem to play flawlessly in a regular DVD player.

    Regards,
    Kurtis Draven.

Are these orignial pressed DVDs or copies?
If they are copies, it might be a media problem.

Yes they are both original pressed DVD's. I want to back them up. A friend of mine has Bloodsport too and he has the same problem with his.

youre mistaken, bloodsport was just re-released in 2003 because of so much demand. it was out of print for the longest and fetched quite a bit on ebay, i saw some copies go for $100

i had no problem backing up my copy. dvd decrypter iso read > iso write, its a dvd-5 disc

I saw it in the Walmart bin a few weeks ago for $7.99.
Actually I think most of Van Damme's movies can be found there

  12. Word, I learned all his moves by the 5th grade. (Especially, the old, "I'm blind, I can't see anything!" BS)

  13. Wow, I didnt realize my little joke was going to have such fanfare :P

Seriously, I dont like Van Damme movies all that much, but I did like Bloodsport ... quite a bit actually. And one other one. Cant remember the name. It was another one with a tournament style thing.

Other than that, his movies are my ass. He is a bad actor and really, he cant fight all that well. Steven Segal would seriously wipe the floor with him without breaking a sweat. And I say this as a brown belt kickboxer. Little bit of useless trivia that some people might not know ... before kickboxing, he was a ballet dancer.

*straight from Saturday Night Live* Jean-Claude was neither a good fighter or a good actor. Discuss!!

And Adam Sandler? *ugh* He peaked at Waterboy and perhaps The Wedding Singer.

    Just my ramblings ....

    Kickboxer.
That was a rare movie too, up to $100 or more for the DVD.
It was released in UK PAL in 2002 with f'd up widescreen.
Then again in USA NTSC in 2003 with proper widescreen and better audio.
The first release was single layer and had darkness compression issues, much like Swamp Thing and Highlander.

    Heyas.

Gotta admit he's shit... But Bloodsport is good, Kickboxer and the first Universal Soldier were good and In Hell wasn't bad either. The Replicant wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen come to think of it.

More trivia for you... He did gay porn before his acting career took off. As far as I know it's very rare and only available on a VHS tape. He actually admitted it saying he needed the money and it was all that was offered to him.

    Regards,
    Kurtis Draven.

  17. I must have bought the 2nd edition of Highlander because it looks like the original when I backed it up using dvdshrink. Wonder if it was a version of shrink that was the issue?!?!?!

For the original poster, what specifically happens when you put in your dvd rom drive? You say that it does not spin up. What happens specifically when you open Windows media player or other pc dvd player software? when you navigate to the dvd rom drive, what does it do?

He didn't do gay porn as such as you understand it, he in fact starred as as a GAY Karate fighter and i'm near sure they had to dub his voice into english because at the time he didn't speak any English.

Also another little bit of movie trivia for ya, he makes a brief apperance in Breakdance the movie when Ozone and Turbo are battleling Electro Rock on the Beach Front.

As for myself i actually like most of his films. <--- Rare i know
