    Hi good folks of videohelp.com,

If I dont care about quality, how would I rip 2 dvd's and make backup to only 1 dvd+r.

If I have 2 different video_ts folders, could I use the DVDShrink ReAuthor function ????,

plz link me to a guide.

    yep, shrink reauthor would work.

you don't really need a guide. open two shrinks, select one _ts in each. select re author in one, drag in all the titles you want, select compression, hit backup.

    job done.

However, if you're looking to keep everything, it's not always possible. MackemX has a guide... erm... scroll down a couple days to find the topic... but it's imperfect and only works on some films.

This is how i did this to combine a 2 sided DVD (aka "A Flipper") I used DVD Decrypter to rip both sides of the disc to my hard drive in seperate folders. I then Opened DVDShrink & Open Files & choose the folder which contained the 1st half of the DVD. In DVDShrink I then switched to Re-Author mode & drug the man movie (Title1) to the DVD Structure side of Shrink. I then clicked on Full Disc again & Opened file & Chose the folder that contained side 2 & after it analysed I then clicked back to Re-Author mode & choose the man movie (Title1) to the DVD Structure side of Shrink, should now say Title 1 (2). You now either choose Backup! and burn the DVD or add othr stuff from the 2 DVDs to your Compilation, but note that the more you add the more compression & that means less quality. I hope this helps

  6. dudeman316, you do not need to use "Full-Disc" at all.

    - Open DVD Shrink.
    - Click on "Re-author".
    - Use the "DVD Browser" on the right to locate a title.
    - Drag it to the left pane - "DVD Structure".
    - Use the "DVD Browser" to locate another title.
    - Drag it to the left pane - "DVD Structure".
    etc etc ...

Gurm is right as that guide really aint much use unless they are similar DVD structures such as episode DVD's and it's got a few pitfalls with it being my first attempt at joining

I have since learnt a little more with it and joined 2 completely different DVD's together, this time modifying a few commands and buttons. It has a new main Title menu that allows you to choode either movie as if you were inserting the DVD. Again it may not work on certain DVD's but I'm hoping it will help a few people and maybe they can help me optimize it in return

  12. Good info this..I was working with a well old version DVD Shrink, this new version is just superb!!

One question..I've got a couple of short DVD concerts I'd like to put onto a single DVD, these will require no 'shrinking' at all to fit. Is there any way, using DVD Shrink, I can add some kind of basic menu to the the finsihed DVD to select which of the concerts to view. I know I can do it with TMPGEnc DVD Author, but I'd like to share this knowledge with people and they won't all have TMPGEnc DVD Author!!

You could use DVDShrink to compile the concert files together & then use a program Like TMPGEnc DVD Author & load the DVD files in and create a new menu, and there are other programs I am sure that will allow one to do this.

Sorry dudeman316, but I have absolutely no idea.
I am far from a DVD re-authoring expert.
Actually, I'm so far that it would take 3.5 million years for the DVD re-authoring expert's light to reach me.

    lol

it's fun merging and reauthoring DVD's and I just stuck The Matrix onto another DVD and kept everything including the white rabbit feature etc. So I guess anything is possible these days

I'm playing around now to get ready for dual layer and when I eventually get a burner
