Has anyone burned or does anyone know personally someone who burned a DVD+R DL disc with this burner. Originall, I was under the impression that it's capable of burning them, after looking at all the (reliable) information I can find, all I see is that it SUPPORTS 8.5GB DVD+R DL discs. I'm not sure if this just means it's capable of reading them or if it can actually burn them. So far no one in the writers section has tried. The spec sheet doesn't say for certain and I can't find the manual online. It sounds like a good deal and I'm interested in it, but I can't see buying a new drive that's NOT able to burn DL at the moment. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

It actually sounds like a pretty good writer. I use LG for DVD-Ram but do not own any of their writers.

Being LG fan since the day when I swapped some idiotic sony for my first multi LG almost 2 years ago - I must admit I won't buy any DL burner until DL media is available around, and from few different makers as well.

However speaking from the experience that covers them all models of LG writers except this new one so far (or yet rather), Im sure it does work as described by manufacturer.

The specs in the DVD writer section are correct, it can burn DVD+R DL. Check LG Germany or HLDS if you need confirmation.

The official firmware doesn't support bitsetting/burning with DVD-ROM book type though which is necessary to get an acceptable compatibility for DVD+R DL. There are however some "leaked" firmwares that are supposed to support this.

Review of the drive in question.

And yes it does burn DVD+RW DL discs.

    http://tdb.rpc1.org/#GSA4120B has the leaked firmwares.
