why dont u just delete the file or use another anti-virus like PC-Cillin or McAfee virus scan..they have demos so use the demaos to clean the files
-
well the anti virus programs couldn't remove it, just detect them.
i did figure out how to permanatly delete them though, just open dos and type "del (location of virus)" and hit enter if anyone else wants to know. -
nfl2k2,
Dont forget to rescan your system, some virii die hard... -
REformat your HD and reinstall all your software. That should get rid of all the viruses and teach you not to open attachments that have an executable in them.
-
...And also teach you not to enable activeX, or use to Windows. Windows attracts 99.9% of virii, it is like a fat disease infested rat.
The best Anti-virus software is UNIX.
nfl2k2,
Which files did you delete? If it were a simple matter of deleting the files, I am very surprised that anti-virus software could not delete it. -
they were from morpheus. Norton 2002 gave me some long way to delete them on their site but i just did the dos thing and it deleted them that way.
the file name was something like "download13525464626.dat.vir" -
never ever download something with two extentions.
Especially vir, vbs.
why don't you just isolate the infected files and delete them.
THat is the easiest way.
if they are system files, you can restore them by running your computers recovery disks.

lol, I already deleted them, norton virus scan doesn't detect them now. btw, what are .vir files? what kinda harm can they do?
my pc had been shutting down by itself about once a week, could the virus's been the prob?

Actually, it was not a VB file - .vbs normally denotes a visual basic file. It was formerly a *.dat file that had been backed up as *.dat.vir file due to an antivirus utility detecting it as an infected file.
Certain antivirus software will create a backup of infected files, by appending .vir to the original filename. You are then meant to delete this file if you know of no reason why you shouldn't. There should really be no reason to keep an infected file.
BTW... I wasnt kidding that a .vir can also be a virus file.
