  3. Could you explain MMC vs CMC? I'm a bit confused here.

    Thanks.

  5. these are excellent quality disks. I got them for about .50 each a while back because of an open spindle. Coudln't believe it, the disks werent' touched. I checked them with a fine tooth comb. I've been waiting for them to go on sale since. This is the first time they've been on sale as far as I know. I'll get 25 of them. Only thing I don't like is the fact that you only have limited space to write the title. If it's a long title, good luck.

Go to Staples with the compusa ad and price match it plus another 10% of the difference and get a 25 pack of Sony for 15.99.

Aren't these MCC made on order by CMC in Taiwan, with MCC dye? Anyway, if it doesn't say made in japan on the spindle, it is probably crappy.

I use a lot of verbatims, the ones i have seem to come from a variety of places.

    8x printable MCC - Singapore
    4x printable MCC - India
2x printable MCC - Taiwan, India
4x Silver matt finish MCC - Taiwan
    4x Pastel Discs TYG01 - Japan

Also use Maxell 4x and Panasonics 4x, their discs on sale here are all made in Japan by TY, excellent discs IMO.

So far i haven't had any problems with any of the above.

The only verbatim discs that i have had problems with (when i first got a dvd recorder) was the 2x silver matt finish CMC discs from Taiwan, got one spindle and most ended up having read errors, learned quick, never again.

If i didn't already have 56 discs of MCC 01RG20 (remnants of two spindles combined), 9 MCC 003 discs in jewel cases, a box 10 of Sony branded TYG01 in jewel cases, a pack of 5 Fujifilm TYG02 from Japan, and a box of 10 MCC 02RG20 on the way, I'd get a couple myself

Guess I'll need to get some of those Verbatim DVD-R myself. I have a 50 pk of Samsung DVD+R from Newegg arriving on Tuesday (too good of a deal to pass on if they do turn out to be TY), but I only have two DVD-R blanks left. I'll be putting my $30 gift card (a b'day present) to good use.

    Cheers!

How do these -r's compare with Maxell and TY?????
At 14.99 for 25 I am tempted but made in Taiwan scares me.
Anyone ever compared these with the "big 2 above"????

  22. If you are thinking about getting one of these MCC made in taiwan. Please wait until you see my KProbe scan. I'm, on the other hand, thinking about returning the rest to BB. (I have scan image at home will post tonight)

Anyway it might be just a bad batch but I wouldn't dare to risk to open the other 2 packs to test it.

If anyone elses get this please at least post your KProbe Scan to compare. I know that CDspeed and Scan surface are perfect with these media but I would like to see more of KProbe scans.

ya_jai I saw some of your scans on cdfreaks (I'm Two Degrees over there), scary stuff indeed, but other people's scans are really good...

I won't be able to do any kprobe scans until my Lite-ON DVD-ROM (YES, DVD-ROM, I wasn't about to spend $60-80 for another DVD burner when I already have two) gets here, but I'll be sure to test my discs and post some scans when I do.

Speaking of the DigitalMovie +Rs, it seems that the 3 disc packs are sometimes made in Singapore, while the spindles are always made in Taiwan. Has anyone checked the -R 3 disc packs, or the 10 disc packs of either -R or +R, to see if they too are ever made in Singapore?

  25. Yup like I said, it might be just a bad batch and/or Made in Taiwan thing. To know for sure I need other Kprobe scan to compare. I don't really trust the old scan of MCC media becuz like every one knows they were made in different places.
