I looked around on pioneer's site, but I can't really see what the diffferences between these two models might be...
Price is certainly one difference. Anyone out there have the A07XLA (it wasn't in the hardware list on this site). My goal is to buy G04 Riteks and get them to burn at 8x.
Thanks for the input!

The quote below explains the features that differentiate the drives. Other than the Quietdrive system they perform the same. They have different firmware so make sure you note this as you upgrade. The 107 is much more common.
Pioneer Europe today launches its latest multiple format DVD writer. The DVR-A07XL provides the fastest multiple format drive available writing to 8x speed on DVD-R/+R and 4X on DVD-RW/+RW media. Pioneer’s Precision Recording Technologies have further improved writing performance to enhance multimedia and archiving applications while the unit incorporates ‘QuietDrive’ - a honeycomb design in the outer casing that reduces vibration from the drive mechanism. Together with performance adjusting firmware and a lack of integral fan, ambient noise from the DVR-A07XL is reduced by 75 percent.Still a few bugs in the system... -

BTW, anticipating a possible follow-up question, the XLA has a beige faceplate while the XLB has a black faceplate. I have an XLB.....terrific drive, IMHO. However, be aware that, unlike the 107D (OEM), the tray on the XL models run the entire width of the drive. As a result, I had to chop away some of the plastic on the faceplate of my PC in order for my XL's tray to clear. -
I have the A07XLA and love it - very reliable and quality burns. It excels with DVD-R media, so good for Ritek G04's.
