Does anyone use the chat feature here?

I remember using mIRC many moons ago. We ( a bunch of people all with the same ISP) used to meet everynight....Had some pretty wild conversations going on....One couple ended up getting married after meeting there and talking for a year or so...Kinda strange watching them have cybersex though

I've always found chat functions on busy boards an exercise in frustration - like how the "two choices" thread was when all the OT post whores are participating Probably because I don't type as fast as many and I can't get my reply out there before four or five other replies show up.

I do like the idea though. It would be fun to chat real-time with my compadres here.Edit: I might wander over there just to piss off NG

no...not the one for this site but I've done chats all over the place in the past


It might start out to be fun (though I used to do that with friends and people I know in person) but it ends up that everyone wants to IM/PM me (and usually all at the same time) then I start to feel like I'm being gang banged with IMs - trust me it isn't fun!


Also don't know what affect I seem to have on people...but I tend to get hit on a lot...and 90% of the time it's the guys making passes at me


Though that's happened quite a few times when I'm out...it's harder to deal with online being that it's so easy to be stalked on here - and that's happened to me before as well - also not fun!


Other than that...it can really waste a lot of time.
I got to a point where I got really burned out on it and vowed never to do that again...but I guess it all depends on the situation.

Stiltman got tossed, and I didn't recognize anyone else on there so I bailed. My, that was fun :P Maybe I'll try it again and see if anyone interesting is on yet. Keltic is one of only a handful of ops that the webchat has to help control order. I was not the one that set your ban. From what I understand, the ban was set because of something that was said relating to the naked geek situation. The ops are simply trying to control order, as irc is a very easy place to start a flamewar quickly. I hope there were no hard feelings, and would like to see more users from the forums helping the visitors that log onto the webchat area.

Back when I was a syop, I always warned the person before they got banned. We (syops) were pretty lenient. IRC is pretty much anything goes, because it can be accessed by so many different servers and clients all to the same chat room. That's why it's still the wild place it is. In #videohelp's room, the ops seem to have no lenientsy(sp?) and do not talk to users before they ban them....This could be one reason it gets so little traffic
