I've decided to buy a DVD recorder. My admittedly novice requirements include a hard drive, some editing capabilities (combine/delete chapters), output to DVD-R/RW, DV input (ieee 1394). I have a number of DV, 8 mm, VHS, and Beta tapes that I want to copy and make available to my daughters and grandchildren.
I came across the Pioneer DVR-510H-S for $759 at BestBuy (online) and also found what appears to be the same unit at Walmart online for $598. However Walmart's Pioneer model is DVR-510H (without the '-S'). The specs sure seem to be the same - but I'm leary with the $160 difference. Am I correct to assume that these are the exact same models?

Life is good ... complicated, but still good!

They are identical. Wal-Mart is such a large buyer that suppliers often package products especially for distribution in their stores. This may involve using a special model ID, a slightly different color, etc.

Goodguys had a special for $450 for this model (for fathers day).
Know that there's a DVR-520H coming out pretty soon (within a month).
