hi all, i've recently had a problem with my cd-burner. i bought it about 2-3 years ago. lately, it doesn't seem to read any of my cds, e.g. i can't play/burn my singles, or any other music. it doesn't seem to recognize that a cd has been inserted. does this mean that i need to clean it or do i need to get a new one. if i need to clean the burner, how do i do it?

Unless you added/changed any software recently, it may be near the end of it's lifespan. As far as cleaning, I would try some 'canned air' when the tray is open and see what that does. Next you can try a CD cleaning disc or do it the hard way and dissasemble the player and clean the laser lens with some denatured alcohol and a Q tip. If it doesn't work anyway, not much to lose. With the price of CD burners and even DVD burners, the easiest may to just replace it.
