I'm making some movies where there are fights but I need some cool sound for the punches and kicks... In most movies there are almost the same sounds so maybe there is a website where you can get them?

    Hello,
I don't know about any websites but there are always those cheap $10 USD cds full of open source sound effects. One of them will probably have a library of action sound effects. Check out the el cheapo section of any Office Max, BestBuy, etc.. Good luck with the movie

    Hi,
It's me again. I had an inspiration. Be your own foley artist! Get a tape recorder and go out and make all of your own sounds. It would be fun and you would get to add yourself to another credit list I remembered all those dvd commentaries and specials I've seen, it would be great. You could do a net search on foley or go to your local library and get a book out. Experiment and your movie will be totally customized and original. Have fun!!

yoda313 is right. Mostly, that kind of sound (i.e. people sounds) are not from a library, but are created by the foley walkers during post. It's probably easier to do than working from a library: set up a mic & recorder in a quiet room with props to kick & punch & slap (pillows, punching bags, etc.), play your scene from your computer or camcorder or vcr with the sound off, and act out the sounds you want to hear. Don't forget footsteps! They are important, and always recreated. That's how big movies do it.

It can be a lot of fun.

I like yoda313's idea, but have you tried a Google search for 'fighting sounds'? Seems to be quite a few sites.

  7. I've bought Sound Effect CDs off of eBay before, & have downloaded some off of iTunes. Try these. Also, try doing a Google search for some. I've found 1,000s of these this way.
