I have a miniDV camcorder, and now I need a firewire port and some better editing software. I dont want to spend more than $100 CAN (~$60 US), but I would spend up to $150 or $200 if it was worth it.
I would like to have a lot of power over editing my video (transparent layers, picture in picture, bloescree/greenscreen, keyframe volume, blending layers ith if lighter/if darker/burn/value..., Ken Burns effect, etc.), but I havn't been able to find many cheap products with all this.
I am considering MovieDVsuite (which comes with a FireWire card, $60 CAN), but their site does not have any screenshots or a demo. Has anyone used this product or have any comments on it?
I have also looked at Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0. It looks like it has a form of the Ken Burns effect, but it doesnt have many video tracks, and it seems more basic. http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/products/showproduct.asp?PID=856
If you have any comments or suggestions, please tell me. Thanks.

screenblast is a lite version of vegas , and on its own is still quite powerfull ...
since you can layer video's in the same track - its rare that you would use more than 4 or 5 tracks anyway ...
download the demo and see if it will work for you .. i think most of the thinks you are lookign for - it can do ..
other than that -- get a copy of vegas 4 (the prev. version) off ebay ..
also --- $100CND = $73US"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
