How to make still images with TMPGENC

Well, didn't know really where to post this one...so it's here

I've done this before, but cannot remember how to do it now. How can I take a video file in tmpgenc and set the start and end frame and then save that to a jpeg file?

Load the video, go to settings and set the start and end frames in Source Range. Select File=>Output to File...=>Sequence....

How are you talking about getting to 'Settings'?

The only way I can get it to come up is by letting the wizard run when the program starts. If I do that and select the start and end frames then it continues on throught the wizard trying to encode for a video. If I cancel out after select the start and end then it doesn't select my image.

Go to Settings=>Advanced Tab=>Source Range. Set the start and end frames so that only your desired frame is selected. Select OK until you are back on the main page.

Now select File=>Output to file...>Sequence BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG file... Select the destination, OK. Press START. Hope this helps.

Thank youl...I finally got it. I'm so dense...didn't see the source range check box.

Tommy - I have tried to do this as you suggest above i.e:
Open tmpgenc (not using wizard) - load the video - go to setting/advanced tab - set source range - Ok....back to main window.

The problem I have is...I can't seem to find how to get the preview up so I can set the start and end marks for output to jpg........can you help?

It's OK I've sussed it now.....you have to double click on the source range to bring up the slide controls...doh!!
