What are the steps for ripping a DVD and then editing it in Final Cut Express and reburning it? If there is a way to do it without using DVDxDV that would be great. Thanks a lot!

You can use Cinematize instead of DVDxDV, but you'll get pretty similar results. Why do you want to avoid DVDxDV? You need to convert to DV format if you want to edit with Final Cut or iMovie.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

Can you help me out a little bit?

What steps do you do to "demux the sound" and how do I combine that back with the .mov that DiVA created (without the sound)?
