I had a dream about this place last night.
One of the mods found my real name and posted it to off topic. Then a bunch of people quoted the mod. So I had to send a bunch of PMs asking everyone to edit out my real name from their posts.
Damn you mod, I'm still pissed about it even though it was only a dream!!![]()

Good one
I had my 1st dream about this place about a week or so ago.
Amazing.
Which mod was it? If it was me I better have been fully clothed
or else!
-edit-
Just looking up your real name..You are the NAKED GEEK
ARhhhhhhhhhhhh!
just j/k.
ps. Mods do not have access to names and private details. Baldrick
has a strict privacy policy - which I agree with. We do have certain limited powers should a user really muck up but you stay anonymous
pretty much unless you decide otherwise. -
Don't know which mod did it.
You're all guilty as far as my dream is concerned -
I've got this bodacious babe I work with ... (she's actually on professional photographers web site - 'alternative lifestylses' type photo's) ... .anyhow I've programmed myself to dream only of her... However... spending 2-3 hours a day scanning / replying to posts here may get to me at some point.

Whilst I wouldn't do it (morals, ethics etc), theoritically it wouldn't be that hard for someone to find out another persons real name on here.
Why someone would bother or want to is another matter. -

I didn't really know what this site was all about when I signed up, so a little anonymity isn't such a bad idea. Like pac said, if someone really wanted to put in the time and effort to trace an IP address and work it backwards it wouldn't take much to figure it out. I didn't know if this was a warez/pirate site or what. I thought I might run into some characters with questionable morals...boy was I wrong:P

Only a select few members of this forum know my real name. I may make it public someday, but not today.

We can donate money to Baldrick's drinking fund? Damn where do I sign up?
-
If you're a good friend of his, you get to be on the receiving end of that drinking fund at times, too.

No luck on the job front then tgpo? Amazing, where I am they are crying
out for good graphic designers. Do you have an online portfolio? Might
help. -

Did you talk to the contact I gave you earlier? If not, do you want me to talk to him first? -
I seem to attract some weirdos with my abrasive character. I take standard precautions. Backtracing
via IP is not as easy as it sounds. I had one guy chasing me around
saying I was Satan's pet poodle, jumping on newsgroups I belonged
to and sending me email. It was a laugh at first - I used to print
out the special bits for my friends for a giggle. Finally when he
falsely sent an abuse notification to my ISP I reacted.
With help from some friends at AARnet, I got all sorts of info on him. I contacted his work (Navy) and home ISP. He was reprimanded at
work and was thrown off by his ISP. I even was able to get his
university account suspended pending inquiry. This was back in 95
and today the laws are stronger. You can actually enforce local
laws on stalking etc through international courts although I know
of only one case so far.
I do not think it will be long before we have our first proven
Internet murder, sadly. There have already been net bashings
and suicides. -

The latter.
The 'net is evil and heartless. It is BAD! It is badder than bad! It is froth with perversion, pornography, spam and e-bay scams. It is Capmaster, Indo, Jeex and Village Idiot all rolled into one!
F E A R the 'net. Make peace with your God -- as the 'net is coming for you!! It will draw you in and it will DESTROY you !!
