  1. Hi,

I decided to use DVD Rebuilder to back up AC/DC's Stiff Upper Lip Live because all other programs I used before /DVD2ONE, DVDShrink, CloneDVD, DVDXCOPY Platinum, IC7 - did I miss something?/ were creating terrible macroblocks and pixellation. Well, the final result was somewhat better but still unsatisfactory. The problem is it took almost
9 hours altogether for DVD Rebuilder to do the job. I'm running Intel P4 2.4 GHz, 512k RAM, 7200 rpm hard drive. Is it usually taking so long / I read something about 2 to 4 hours/ or I'm missing something?

    Cheers!

How much compression were you using?

Gregg I have a pc P4 2.4 ghz chip with 1 gb of ram which only took 4-5 hours using DVD REBUILDER. I've just started using the program and it's great quality compared to DVD SHRINK & DVD2ONE. check this thread from yesterday: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=945735#945735

you probably need to adjust the settings in CCE to get better results.

  4. Could it be that I was using 3 pass VBR on CCE?

  5. Well, each pass is going to increase the time, that's a given. encoding takes a while, you're pretty much going to have to accept it if you want quality.

2 pass should be more than sufficient with CCE as it does a pre "analysis" pass anyway.

  7. The last time I did 6 passes, took about 9 hours.
    Same config I have.

  9. 30 hours sounds like forever, man!
I'm not doing full disc backups anyway so I'll stick to the usual tools
and keep DVD-RB for special ocasions only.
    Thanks for the feedback.

    Enjoy!

I bet you will find there is a 2 gig soundtrack on the disk which isnt really needed, could be the DTS one not sure. I* have seen this on a couple of music dvd's and the only way to get a good watchable copy is to remove the biggest audio file....
    Not bothered by small problems...

  11. The soundtracks are less than a gig combined /2ch + 6ch, no DTS/.
No matter which track is included in the backup /concert only/ the results are the same. It's OK most of the time but from time to time you can confuse it with a VCD. Obviously the video itself is not of a very good quality. Thanks for the feedback.

    Enjoy!

Yeah, I ran into this same problem w/the Led Zeppelin dual DVD set. I removed several of the audio tracks that I didn't think were crucial, but it ended up diminishing the overall quality of the sound... It was like some of the sound board tracks were missing. I had to go back and add them, to keep the sound quality, and with concert dvd's, it mattered.
