Hi all,
I seem to have accidentally ticked one of the boxes in IE so that whenever I try and download a zip file (by just clicking on it) it tries to 'Open' the file rather than 'Save'.
This is not the end of the world - the zip file downloads to the Temp folder, then gets opened in UltimateZip. I can then save/copy the archive to wherever I want it.
On some sites, of course, I can right-click and 'Save Target as..'
However, I'd really like to be able to reset this if possible.
I think what it's not doing is prompting whether I want to 'Open' or 'Save', so I must have ticked the 'Always perform this action on this type of file' box (or whatever it says) and opened a zip.
Can anyone tell me how to reset it so that it prompts for what action to take again? I haven't had much luck looking on google.
cheers,
mcdruid.

uninstall ultimatezip, attempt to download a zip file, it will come up with the window asking you if you want to save/open.. reinstall ultimatezip and everything will be peachy again.
this happened to me a few months ago, kind of annoying. -
I did the exact same thing a while ago...
Open up My computer (or any folder), go to
Tools->Folder Options
Select the File Types tab
Scroll down to find ZIP
click it once and select advanced
Check the box next to "Confirm open after download"
Should prompt you know as to save or run. -
Thanks both of you - that's got it sorted.
I was getting pretty fed up of zips opening in the temp folder!
thanks again,
mcdruid.
